Atmanirbhar Bharat- Financing Facility under Agri Infrastructure Fund

Atmanirbhar Bharat is Govt of India initiative aimed at promoting self reliance in India by developing and strengthening various sectors of economy.  As part of this initiative, the government has set up a financing facility under the Agri Infrastructure Fund to provide support to the agricultural sector.                            

The Agri Infrastructure Fund is a Rs. 1 lakh crore fund set up by the government to provide financial assistance to various agricultural related projects. The financial facility under this this fund is designed to provide easy access to credit for farmers, agri-entrepreneurs , and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain. 

The financing facility is available for various agricultural related projects such as post harvest management, infrastructure, agri- entrepreneurship development, and creation of agri -infrastructure.  The projects are selected based on their viability and impact on thr agricultural value chain.

The financing facility is available through banks, financial institutions, and non banking financial companies (NBFCs) .  The government provides interest subvention of 3% per annum to these institutions, which in turn provides loans at a concessional rate of interest to the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries can avail of loans ranging from ₹1 crore to ₹50 crore, depending on the type of project and the nature of the beneficiaries.  The loans have a repayment period upto 7 years , with a moratorium period upto 2 years. 

The financing facility under the Agri Infrastructure Fund is expected to boost investment in the agricultural sector and improve the overall infrastructure and productivity of the sector.  It will also create new employment opportunities in the sector and promote rural entrepreneurship.                          

Overall, the financing facility under the Agri Infrastructure Fund is a significant step towards achieving the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat in the agriculture sector.  It is expected to provide much needed financial support to farmers and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain, thereby promoting self-reliance and sustainable development in the sector.
