15,500 Kashmiri Pandits to Vote in Second Phase
In the ongoing Assembly elections, more than 15,500
displaced Kashmiri Pandit voters will have the opportunity to cast their
ballots in the second phase, scheduled for Wednesday. The polling will take
place across 24 designated polling stations in 26 assembly segments, spread
across six constituencies.
The displaced Kashmiri Pandits, residing in various parts of
the country, have been given special provisions to vote in these elections. The
Election Commission has ensured that their votes play a crucial role in shaping
the future of the Jammu and Kashmir region.
The authorities have set up arrangements in different
cities, allowing these voters to participate in the democratic process despite
their displacement from the Valley. This phase of the election is expected to
be critical, given the large turnout of Pandit voters and its potential
influence on the final outcomes in several constituencies.
Security has been tightened around polling booths, and
election officials have been deployed to ensure a smooth voting process. The
second phase marks another step toward the region’s political restructuring
following the abrogation of Article 370. As voters gear up for the big day, all
eyes are on the impact of this significant voter turnout.
