Farooq Abdullah argues that the removal of Article 370 has not led to reduced terrorism in Kashmir, calling for a reassessment of the policy.
Farooq Abdullah: Article 370 Abrogation Failed to Curb Terrorism in Kashmir
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has reignited the debate over the abrogation of Article 370, claiming that the move has not succeeded in curbing terrorism in the region. Speaking at a recent event, Abdullah pointed out that despite the government's efforts to project the decision as a step towards peace, the ground realities show otherwise.
Abdullah stated that the people of Kashmir have not seen any significant reduction in terrorist activities since the special status of the state was revoked in August 2019. He emphasized that mere legal and political changes cannot address the deep-rooted issues in the region. "The government's claims about Article 370 bringing stability are hollow," he said.
The National Conference leader also called for a serious reassessment of the approach towards Kashmir, urging the government to engage in dialogue with all stakeholders to find a lasting solution. Abdullah’s comments come at a time when security concerns remain high, with frequent reports of terrorist activity in the valley.
