NEW DELHI: The 2024/25 Hockey India League (HIL) is going to be the costliest tournament in the history of the league with a prize pool of over Rs 10 crore. The league will have top men’s and women’s hockey teams and intense competition and big rewards for teams and players.
In Men’s HIL, the winning team will get Rs 3 crore, runner up Rs 2 crores and third place team Rs 1 crores. In women’s HIL, the winners will get Rs 1.5 crores, runners up Rs 1 crores and third place team Rs 50 lakh.
To ensure that excellence has no bounds, Hero MotoCorp has designed many individual performance awards. For a match played both in men and women, ‘Player of the Match’ will get Rs 50,000. Again for men and women’s league, ‘Player of the Tournament’ will get Rs 20 lakh each.
Special awards for best goalkeeper, emerging player and top scorer in Men’s HIL will be Rs 10 lakh each. In Women’s HIL, their counterparts will get Rs 5 lakh each.
This season, Men’s HIL will have 8 teams and Women’s HIL will debut with 4 teams and new formats.
Men’s League will start on 28th December, 2024 in Rourkela and the final will be on February 2025. Women’s HIL will start first with its first match on 12th January 2025 in Ranchi and the final will be on 26th January, 2025.
To bring the action closer to the fans across the country, both leagues’ selected matches will be held at alternate venues, effectively covering more of the country in the action.
