India's very first express train project is going quite fast, with over 70 per cent of work being accomplished, according to Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister of Railways. The ambitious undertaking is likely to change the Indian socioeconomic structure of transport.
The government is making rapid strides to complete the project without missing the schedule. The high-speed rail connectivity between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will drastically reduce the traveling time by five times compared to conventional trains. With a speed of 320 km/hr, the bullet train will definitely herald a new era in India's railway system and will be the stepping stone to modern high-speed rail infrastructure in India.
With the commencement of operations, bullet trains will allow easy and cozy travel with all modern amenities, though it has high operational and initial costs. Travel will become faster, comfortable, and more efficient with further reduction in the travel time between long distances.
The latest information is that the exact date for operations is not available. However, fast-paced construction does indicate that India’s first bullet train could be open to traffic in a couple of years; it can be expected that the project will be completed by the Indian authority in the least time possible to bring India close to a high-speed rail future.
