NEW DELHI: The Legislative Department of the Ministry of Law and Justice organised a cleanliness drive on Saturday in the premises outside Shastri Bhawan, as part of the ongoing initiatives under Special Campaign 5.0.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Shri R.K. Pattanayak, Additional Secretary and Nodal Officer, and Smt. Rakhi Biswas, Under Secretary, with active participation from officials and Safai Karamcharis of the Department. The initiative aimed to reinforce the importance of maintaining hygiene and public cleanliness within government premises and surrounding areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri R.K. Pattanayak emphasised the significance of cleanliness and the key objectives of the Special Campaign. He encouraged officers and staff members to dedicate time regularly to keep their workplaces and neighbourhoods clean. He also urged them to motivate their friends, families, and communities to contribute towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
The Special Campaign 5.0 focuses on institutionalising cleanliness, efficient record management, and the disposal of pending matters in government offices. The cleanliness activities carried out at Shastri Bhawan form part of a larger series of efforts being implemented across ministries and departments to promote public hygiene and accountability.
The Legislative Department’s participation reflects its commitment to the ideals of the Swachh Bharat Mission, launched by the Government of India to foster nationwide citizen engagement in maintaining sanitation and hygiene. By involving employees and sanitation workers alike, the department aims to create a culture of collective responsibility toward a clean working environment.
Officials stated that such drives not only enhance the physical surroundings of government establishments but also serve as a reminder of the role each citizen can play in sustaining cleanliness and environmental well-being. The department plans to continue similar initiatives throughout the campaign period to ensure long-term awareness and participation.
