The wife of Anokh Mittal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, has been killed by robbers in a shocking incident from Punjab. The attack, carried out late Saturday night, happened near Rurka village as Mittal and Lipsi Mittal were returning home after dinner in Dehlo.
In police reports, a group of around five armed robbers with sharp-edged weapons intercepted the couple close to the Sidhwan Canal Bridge. The robbers attacked the couple with an intention to loot them. Anokh Mittal sustained serious injuries while he was resisting the attack, but Lipsi Mittal died on the spot from grievous wounds. After this, the criminals fled off the scene using the couple's car and other valuables they could lay their hands on.
Eventually, locals contacted the police, and Mittal was taken to DMC Hospital. After these, the police now have initiated an investigation into this case and are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas in order to identify and hunt down the assailants. High police authorities assured speedy investigations and justice against the culprits.
The brutality of the attack has sent shockwaves throughout Punjab, particularly in political circles. AAP leaders and other political personalities have outcried the incident, calling for severe law enforcement and security measures in the region.
