The "Pinaka" missile system, one of India's cherished treasures, is about to be sent to a country plagued by conflict: Armenia. This comes just days after India recorded its highest-ever military export, which increased by an astounding 334% over the previous five years.

Armed with agreements from the two nations to send weapons and ammunition to Armenia earlier this month, the Ministry of Defence approved the shipment of arms through a government-to-government route.

According to sources, India has agreed to deliver anti-tank rockets, as well as other munitions, to Armenia for $250 million (more than Rs 2,000 crore). In the upcoming months, India will deliver the weaponry through a government-to-government conduit.

“Life and range of upgraded Pinaka rocket launchers are more, despite the price being almost the same. We’ve received an export order from Armenia, to be completed within 2 years. Both Nigeria and Indonesia have also expressed interest,” Satyanarayan Nawal, Solar Industries Chairman said.

The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) created the Pinaka system, which is produced by commercial Indian companies. The Indian Army now uses a rocket system that can launch a salvo of 12 rockets in 44 seconds.

According to reports, Nigeria and Indonesia will be the next countries to purchase the updated Pinaka rocket launcher.

Participants at DefExpo-2022 will have the opportunity to display their tools and weaponry. Additionally, they will be able to investigate the potential for economic alliances with the Indian defence sector. The DefExpo 2022 will have participation from 1,340 Indian firms, 75 countries, and 33 foreign ministers.
