Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep, or cause you to wake up too early and not be able to get back to sleep. You may still feel tired when you wake up. Insomnia can sap not only your energy level and mood but also your health, work performance and quality of life. In Kashmir decades long worrying scenario , tense life style coupled with pandemic has resulted in Insomnia spreading out .
We now have Almost in every family now a member complains of lack of sleep.
The Covid-19 pandemic has also changed people’s normal sleep patterns, especially among students who stay at home and tend to sleep during day time, which means a disturbance to the normal sleep pattern.
The expert pulse is that insomnia also hits the productivity of any society , as it entails declining health of a person and his ability to do work .
Even a large section of youth in Kashmir complain of insomnia, and very difficult to fall asleep. The expert pulse is that some point, many adults experience short-term (acute) insomnia, which lasts for days or weeks. It's usually the result of stress or a traumatic event. But some people suffer it for longer time .
The grinding stress that has hit Kashmir since past few years especially due to unemployment has contributed to many ills. Insomnia may be the primary problem, or it may be associated with other conditions.
Chronic insomnia is usually a result of stress, life events or habits that disrupt sleep. Treating the underlying cause can resolve the insomnia, but sometimes it can last for years.
Ensuring healthy life style like long walks and exercises that can ensure fit brain and body should be taken up by the youngsters to find a way out of insomnia .
We need holistic vision to combat insomnia in Kashmir.
