By Rameez Makhdoomi

Language is the first thing we acquire on intellectual levels when we come to this world. The institution of language is basic symbol of our identity and soul of every culture. The rapid decline of smaller languages in our world is a matter of major concern.

Our native language defines us and we should teach our children our native languages. Studies have shown the difficult concepts are cleared easily to students in their own native language.

In a region like Kashmir the parents should not feel ashamed in speaking in Kashmiri to their children . Teaching other languages is not bad but forgetting the native language is bad.

English and other major languages are really important but that does not we should forget our native language.

Time is right that the moment kid enters into the stage of learning he or she is taught the efficacy of native language.

We need to respect native languages and understand their efficacy.
