The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will declare the Class 10 and Class 12 board exam results for the year 2025 between May 8 and May 14, although the date has not been finalised. Over 42 lakh students who have appeared for the exams this year can check their results online through the official CBSE websites, DigiLocker, and the UMANG app, showing the growing spread of the Digital India mission towards easing result access.
For Class 10 and Class 12, the passing percentage is set at 33% per subject and total. Class 10 students should have a minimum of 33% marks in each subject, but the board does not require separate passing in theory and practical papers. For Class 12, students should get a minimum of 33% in theory and practical segments separately to pass a subject.
CBSE follows relative grading in Class 10 on a rising order ranking scale of A1 (students up to top 12.5%) to E (fail) based on students' marks. Only students who obtain more than 90 marks are graded A1, while those below 33 are graded E1 or E2 and failed. There may be an awarding of grace marks at the discretion of the board if marks are near borderline marks.
Those students who fail a maximum of two subjects are eligible to appear in compartment exams, which will be held in July or August with August results declared. This provides the students with a second chance to clear their boards for the same year.
To check results, students must visit the official websites (cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, results.digilocker.gov.in), enter roll number, school number, and admit card ID, and download their marksheet. DigiLocker and UMANG offer secure, digital copies of official marksheets, making it even easier.
Students are advised to verify their details on the marksheet and report to their school for rectification if needed.
Since the results are at the door, students and parents are requested to keep themselves updated through authentic sources and refrain from hearing things.
