Kulgam, July 8: Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo on Tuesday reassured students and parents that the newly implemented school timings are not final and can be adjusted if needed.
Speaking to the media during her visit to Kulgam, the minister said the decision to resume schools and revise schedules was made with the upcoming academic session and examinations in mind.
“Schools have reopened from today, and we’ve received several calls regarding the change in school timings,” she said. “But I want to clarify that these timings are not rigid. If there are concerns or difficulties faced by students or parents, we are open to making changes.”
Minister Itoo emphasized that the core objective is to ensure students complete their syllabus before the examinations in October and November. “We are already in mid-July. With limited time before exams begin, it is essential that students remain focused and get the academic support they need.”
She urged parents and students not to worry, assuring them that the department is responsive to their feedback. “If the situation demands, we will review the timing decision. No one should feel anxious. Our only goal is to help children succeed academically and bring laurels to Jammu & Kashmir and the country.”
The minister’s remarks come amid public criticism over revised school timings and the introduction of online classes after a 15-day summer break.
