Ex Punjab Congress Chief Sunil Jakhar bid adieu to party, “Goodbye and Goodluck Congress”

Jakhar expressed his discontent with the party after the Congress disciplinary committee dislodged him from all party posts because he was allegedly involved in anti-party activities

Former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar on Saturday announced that he is done with the party. His decision came after he was stripped of all party posts. 



He took to Facebook to reveal his decision of untying his strings with the Congress party. in a Facebook Live stream, he said, “Goodbye and Goodluck Congress”.



A three-time MLA and one-time MP, Jakhar, removed all the references to the party from his social media handles and replaced the party flag with the Indian tricolor as a background for his Twitter account.



Jakhar expressed his discontent with the party after the Congress disciplinary committee dislodged him from all party posts because he was allegedly involved in anti-party activities.



The former Punjab Congress chief had criticized former Chief Minister Channi and labeled him as a reason behind the party’s loss in Punjab assembly polls.



Whereas commenting on Rahul Gandhi, Jakhar admired him as a “good person” and urged him to once again lead the party and maintain distance from “chaploos log” (sycophants).



Soon after Jakhar’s exit, former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidu reacted via Twitter, saying, "The Congress should not lose Sunil Jakhar [He] is an asset worth his weight in gold. Any differences can be resolved on the table."
