On Monday, the Supreme Court declined to consider a PIL that asked for an age determination for the Taj Mahal and the eradication of "wrong facts" regarding its construction from all text books about the Mughal-era structure regarded as one of the seven wonders of the world.

The petition submitted by Surjit Singh Yadav was dismissed by a two-judge panel that included Justices M. R. Shah and C. T. Ravikumar and stated that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) should be the one to take these matters into consideration.

"Do not drag the courts into everything. Can we determine what is the age Taj Mahal and the historical facts behind it after 400 years?" the bench asked. Yadav took the petition back.

Claiming that he did not know even his age, Justice Shah questioned how they could hear such petitions. The bench declared, "Petition dismissed as withdrawn."
