100 people dead as floods wreaks havoc in Assam

Assam’s Nagaon is one of the most affected districts where more than 5 lakh people are severely buffeted by the floods. Several areas of the district are still inundated under the flood waters

Floods in Assam are wreaking havoc in the state as around 100 people have died and around 50 lakh people in 32 districts have been affected by the deluge.


As the flood situation remains dire in the state, scores of people have turned to highways to evade the inundation. 


Assam’s Nagaon is one of the most affected districts where more than 5 lakh people are severely buffeted by the floods. Several areas of the district are still inundated under the flood waters.


To provide some relief to the affected people, children of Nagaon district are participating in setting up relief camps. 


"Children Nagaon district are participating in preschool activities in relief camp. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also visited the camp to encourage the children,” said NP Doley, Integrated Child Development Services supervisor
