New Delhi- In a progressive step towards gender inclusivity and enhanced security measures, the Delhi Police has successfully trained 19 women commandos as 'Markswomen' to ensure safety during the much-anticipated G20 Summit, scheduled to be held in the capital city later this year.

The G20 Summit is a high-profile international event that brings together leaders from the world's major economies to discuss and collaborate on critical global issues. Consequently, security arrangements have always been of paramount concern for host countries. This year, with India set to welcome esteemed dignitaries from around the globe, the Delhi Police aims to redefine security protocols by involving women in key operational roles.

The 19 women selected for this specialized training underwent rigorous screening and assessment processes to ensure their fitness, marksmanship skills, and ability to handle high-pressure situations. After demonstrating exceptional capabilities, these candidates were shortlisted to undergo intensive training at the Delhi Police's elite training facility.

The comprehensive training program was led by seasoned marksmen and tactical experts who honed the women's shooting skills to perfection. The curriculum included live-fire exercises, simulated crisis scenarios, combat drills, and intelligence gathering techniques. The participants also received specialized training in handling advanced firearms and equipment.

Commissioner of Delhi Police, Ms. Aparna Gupta, expressed her pride in the initiative, stating, "Empowering women and encouraging their participation in crucial roles such as security is a testament to our commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment. These highly skilled markswomen are a valuable addition to our security forces, and their presence will undoubtedly boost our capabilities to ensure a safe and secure environment during the G20 Summit."

The markswomen shared their excitement and sense of responsibility as they embraced their roles in safeguarding the nation and its distinguished guests. One of the trainees, Priya Singh, remarked, "It's a moment of immense pride for me and my fellow markswomen. We have been given a great responsibility, and we are prepared to give our best to ensure a successful and secure G20 Summit."

This pioneering move by the Delhi Police aligns with the government's broader vision to increase women's representation in various sectors, including law enforcement. By breaking stereotypes and challenging traditional gender roles, these markswomen exemplify the changing landscape of India's security forces.

Apart from the G20 Summit, the markswomen will also be deployed in other critical security operations, showcasing their capabilities and serving as an inspiration to women across the country.

As the G20 Summit approaches, the entire nation eagerly awaits this historic event, which will not only address global economic challenges but will also set a precedent for gender-inclusive security measures. With the skilled markswomen prepared to showcase their capabilities, India is all set to leave a lasting impression on the world stage.
