Founder Fired New Hire in Five Days for Insulting Junior Colleague

Goa:

Following a reported instance of public humiliation directed at a junior team member, a Goan startup founder took decisive action on July 11th, firing a newly hired senior executive just five days after hiring. The founder's dedication to upholding civil workplace conduct is demonstrated by this action.

The incident happened at a project review meeting on Friday night. According to reports, the senior hire said to a junior employee:

“Did you leave your brain at home? If this is the best you can do, you should look for a new job. Bring your brain tomorrow or don’t bother coming.”

Jatin Saini, the founder and branding specialist of House of Creators in Goa, attended the meeting. He decided to fire the executive that same day after calling the language "ego-driven" and "humiliating." "I fired the person I hired on Friday after hiring them on Monday. It wasn't my proudest moment. "It's also not the most straightforward conversation," he posted on LinkedIn.

Saini made an effort to speak with the executive directly, questioning whether personal jabs in feedback were appropriate. The executive, however, defended his comments by saying:

“That’s how you build strong teams.”

Saini received that retort as the last clue that the hire did not share the company's values. The person was promptly removed from their position. Later, Saini emphasised that the organisation is looking for a replacement who is not only technically competent but also considerate and emotionally intelligent. We are currently hiring for a Senior Personal Brand Executive position once more, but this time we are only looking for someone who is respectful, skilled, and willing to learn. Our goal is to develop personal brands without causing harm to others.

Social media users and industry analysts have praised the prompt resolution, seeing it as a powerful statement against toxic workplace culture, a problem that frequently goes unchecked in high-pressure or hierarchical settings. The significance of empathy and respect for one another in teamwork and leadership has been emphasized by critics.

The report sheds light on how startup culture is changing in India and emphasises that professionalism and interpersonal sensitivity are both necessary for excellence. The incident shows that corporate values cannot be compromised, even momentarily, in a time when public accountability is growing.

Many professionals have responded favorably to Saini's open handling of the matter and admission that the choice was challenging. His readiness to review hiring standards highlights the increasing understanding that respect and emotional intelligence are just as important in the workplace as technical proficiency. With the clear message that success hinges on the capacity to mentor and influence, not denigrate, House of Creators is currently actively seeking a new senior leader.

Incidents like these point to a shift in workplace cultures where respect, cooperation, and mutual development are non-negotiable as startups continue to expand in size and impact.
