The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seems to have revived the probe linked to Lalu Prasad Yadav, accusing him of Land for Railway scam.
About suspected appointments made in Railways in exchange for land parcels donated or sold to his family, the CBI filed a charge sheet against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi, and 14 other people on Friday, sources said. Prasad’s daughters Misra Bharti, who also served as a former general manager in railways, along with his second daughter, Hema Yadav have also been named as the accused. Several other undeserving appointees have also been linked to the scam, as per the charge sheet filed in the special court.
The agency claimed to have discovered a hard disc from Prasad's former camp office at 10 Circular Road in Patna, where he worked when he was the Union Railway Minister. 1 458 applicants were reportedly employed by the Railways during his tenure, according to the CBI.
“This land was acquired at prices lower than the prevailing circle rate and much lower than the market rate. It was also alleged that the candidates have used false TC and submitted false attested documents to the Ministry of Railways, "added the official.
Three months after Lalu Yadav's assistant Bhola Yadav was detained by the CBI, the charge sheet for the "land-for-job scam" was filed. Between 2005 and 2009, he served as the then-railroad minister's Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
