Hyderabad, July 1, 2025:

T Raja Singh, a Telangana BJP MLA, formally resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party, expressing profound discontent with internal dynamics and leadership choices. After learning of N Ramchander Rao's impending appointment as the new state unit chief, the Goshamahal lawmaker submitted his resignation to state party president Kishan Reddy.

In his resignation letter, Singh, a three term MLA renowned for his strong and vocal opinions, stated that it was "difficult to pretend all is well" following news of Rao's selection. He went on to say that although he still supports the BJP's basic principles, he could not stay in office under a "backroom coterie".

Internal conflict within the Telangana BJP has been highlighted by the MLA's action. The party has confirmed that N. Ramchander Rao will take over as state president in spite of Singh's departure, indicating that the leadership is still adamant about the choice. Singh claims that regional leaders and grassroots workers were passed over in favor of those with elite support, citing what he called excessive meddling and nepotism as the root of his complaints. He had threatened to take similar action earlier this year after being disregarded when district level officials were appointed.

After his resignation was announced, Singh sparked more controversy by threatening to expose alleged corruption and backdoor deals if the party suspended him. He claimed that grassroots activism was being overlooked and that top leaders were secretly forming alliances with opposing political groups. The Telangana BJP is at a vulnerable moment with the resignation. Singh is one of the state's most well known and divisive leaders, so his departure would be a serious blow to his reputation as assembly elections approach.

BJP insiders have not yet responded to Singh's allegations. According to Telangana BJP sources, Ramchander Rao's appointment confirms the party's strategic direction in the state and reflects broad agreement within the central leadership. According to analysts, Singh's resignation might lead to more dissension among his supporters. In the run up to the next election cycle, the party must now manage factionalism and maintain unity.

Singh has not stated if he plans to run for office on his own or join another political party. His next course of action is still up in the air and will probably be closely monitored by regional opponents as well as allies.
