May 21, 2022, marks former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's 31st death anniversary and on this day Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi paid homage to the late Gandhi at Vir Bhumi in Delhi.
Whereas, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is also the son of Rajiv Gandhi, took to Twitter to pay tribute to his father.
He tweeted, "My father was a visionary leader whose policies helped shape modern India. He was a compassionate and kind man, and a wonderful father to me and Priyanka, who taught us the value of forgiveness and empathy. I dearly miss him and fondly remember the time we spent together."
Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a suicide bomber attack on May 21, 1991, while attending a poll rally in Tamil Nadu. Fourteen other people including the bomber also died in the attack.
Meanwhile, the accused convict involved in the attack, A G Perarivalan, was released from jail after serving 31 years in jail.
