On May 30, Mohan Chauhan was found guilty of murder, rape, and violating pertinent parts of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, about eight months after the horrible occurrence.

The Mumbai Police Department acted quickly in this case, filing a chargesheet in just 18 days.

During the trial, 37 witnesses were called to testify, including the victim's parents.

On June 1, the sessions court was supposed to decide on the severity of the punishment.

Sakinaka Rape Case

On September 10, 2021, a lady in her 30s was viciously raped and mutilated in Mumbai's Sakinaka district, in the heart of India's financial metropolis.

The accused Mohan Chauhan knew the victim and they were close friends, according to the chargesheet issued by the Mumbai Police.

After the victim failed to keep a promise she made to Mohan Chauhan, he became enraged.

Chauhan attempted to see her and contact her 25 days before the crime, but was unsuccessful.

According to the chargesheet, when he met her after 25 days, he became enraged and attacked her.

He beat her with a rod that he used as a weapon and also inserted into her private regions, leaving her in severe condition.

The cops rushed the woman to Rajawadi Hospital at the same speed she was assaulted, but she died on September 11 from her injuries.

Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, announced a speedy trial in the matter and urged the Mumbai Police to speed up the investigation and file the chargesheet within a month.

Mohan Chauhan was apprehended within hours of the crime after being identified by CCTV footage and charged under sections 307, 376, 323, and 504of the Indian Penal Code.
