BJP NAMES 62 CANDIDATES FOR HP ELECTIONS 2022, CM THAKUR TO RUN FROM MANDI

The list of 62 candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly election in 2022 was revealed by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday.


The list of candidates for the HP elections in 2022 was finalised during a meeting of the governing party's Central Election Committee on Tuesday. Anil Sharma and Sat pal Singh Satti, two BJP leaders, have run for office in the Mandi and Una seats, respectively. Jai Ram Thakur, the chief minister, will run for office in the Mandi district's Seraj district. Thakur, a five-time MLA, will run in the state elections on November 12 for a record seventh time.


2017 saw the BJP win an absolute majority in the legislature with 44 members, while Congress was only allowed to hold 21 seats.st to BJP Surender Shourie. This year as well, Shourie received a ticket from the same Banjar seat.


In the meanwhile, the Congress also unveiled its initial list of 46 candidates, including Mukesh Agnihotri, the leader of its legislative party, who hails from Haroli in the Una district.


After the party released its list, Congress leader Aditya Vikram Singh, who had hoped to be renominated after running unsuccessfully for the Banjar seat in the previous election, resigned from the party in disgust. In the 2017 Assembly elections, Singh received more than 45% of the vote.


On November 12, the people of Himachal Pradesh will cast their ballots, and on December 8, the Election Commission of India will declare the results. Between October 17 and October 25, nomination forms must be submitted.
