In their first rallies in Gujarat for the State Legislative Assemblies elections, Aam Aadmi Party (APP) national convener & Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led Tiranga Yatra in Gandhidham and Anjar of the state’s Kutch District. His counterpart Bhagwant Mann led the Yatra in Chamanpura, Dani Limda, and Jamalpur. All three are a few of Ahmedabad’s most Muslim-dominated areas. AAP hopes to win over the Muslim community of the state, which can change the game for the party in the BJP stronghold, Gujarat.

The Jamalpur & Dani Limda regions are represented by Imran Khedawala and Shailesh Parmar (Congress MLAs). Meanwhile, Gandhidham, as well as Kutch, are BJP seats, the latter being home to a sizeable Muslim population.

AAP has announced the nomination of Dinesh Kapadia for the Dani Limda and Harun Nagori seats under the Jamalpur-Khadia constituency.

Since the 2017 elections, the seat of Gandhidham has been represented by Malti Maheshwari. The Anjar remains the stronghold of Vasan Ahir, serving as MLA for the past two terms. AAP is yet to announce its candidates for the aforementioned seats. So far, the party has declared 139 candidates out of which 21 were declared on Saturday.

In previous elections, AAP proved to be a close contender to the BJP in the state of Gujarat. The Tiranga Yatra in the key 5 areas chosen by the Aam Aadmi Party can change the wave of the election in favor of the party. Kejriwal is leading the campaign with promises of improvement in the Employment Rate, Education System, and Healthcare System of the state.
