Tomorrow, the Maharashtra government orders a floor test, and Eknath Shinde will be in Mumbai

Eknath Shinde, the rebel leader of the Shiv Sena, announced on Wednesday that he will travel to Mumbai on Thursday to take the Sena-NCP-Congress government of Maharashtra to the floor

In a letter to the Maharashtra Legislature, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari ordered a floor test for June 30.

“A Special session of the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha shall be summoned on 30.06.2022 at 11 :00 AM with the only agenda of a trust vote against the Chief Minister and the proceedings of the floor test shall be concluded in any case 5PM on 30.06.2022,” the letter said.

In Guwahati, where a sizable contingent of MLAs who support him have been camped out for a week, Shinde informed reporters that he will travel to Mumbai with every member of his party’s legislature.

Shinde claimed to have prayed at Guwahati’s Kamakhya temple for Maharashtrians to live in peace and prosperity as he left the opulent hotel where the rebel party had been staying for the previous week.

Shinde’s declaration that he was moving back to Mumbai came just hours after BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, who is expected to win re-election as chief minister, met with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan and requested that he call for a floor test in the Assembly because the Thackeray-led administration had lost support following the Shinde group’s uprising.
