India has finally announced its squad for Champions Trophy 2025 and the three-match ODI series against England today at a press conference in Mumbai with captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. The loudest buzz however was created by Shubman Gill being made the vice-captain of the side.
Jasprit Bumrah was selected, said Agarkar, adding that more clarity about his fitness will be known in February. While selecting the 15-man squad, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant were given the wicket-keeper role over Sanju Samson while Mohammed Siraj was another player omitted. Main head coach Gautam Gambhir was absent from the press conference, he said that he spoke with Rohit and the selectors during a video conference on Friday evening.
