Iran has issued a fresh warning to the United States and Israel, saying any new military action against the country would be met with stronger retaliation using “new tools and methods,” amid rising tensions in West Asia.
The warning came from Iranian Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia during a public gathering at Valiasr Square in Tehran. According to Iranian state media, Akraminia said Iran would open “new fronts” if Washington or Tel Aviv launched another attack on the Islamic Republic.
“If the enemy commits another folly and launches another aggression against our dear Iran, we will open new fronts against them with new tools and methods,” Akraminia said. He also claimed that Iran “cannot be blockaded or defeated,” referring to pressure and restrictions imposed by the US and its allies.
The Iranian military official further stated that the country had used the recent ceasefire period to strengthen its combat readiness and military capabilities. He claimed Iran maintains full control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important oil shipping routes.
The remarks came shortly after US President Donald Trump said Washington had temporarily delayed a possible military strike on Iran due to ongoing diplomatic discussions involving Gulf nations including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Trump said there was still a “good chance” for negotiations to produce an agreement.
At the same time, senior US officials have continued to warn about Iran’s nuclear programme and regional military activities. American officials maintain that the US is prepared to resume military action if diplomatic efforts fail.
The growing exchange of threats has increased fears of a wider regional conflict involving Iran, Israel and US forces in the Middle East. Rising tensions have already impacted oil markets, air travel and shipping routes across the Gulf region.
