New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a revamped team of national office-bearers under party president Nitin Nabin, bringing a mix of experienced leaders and younger faces into key organisational positions. The reshuffle, announced on August 17, is being seen as a major organisational exercise aimed at strengthening the party ahead of upcoming electoral challenges.
The new team includes 13 national vice presidents, eight national general secretaries and 16 national secretaries. Among the prominent appointments, former Union minister Smriti Irani has returned to the BJP's national organisation as a general secretary. Former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has also been appointed national general secretary. Veteran strategist Ram Madhav has returned as a national vice president.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed the party's national treasurer, while B.L. Santhosh continues as national general secretary (Organisation), a key position that maintains the organisational link between the BJP and the RSS. Other senior leaders, including Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal, have also been given important organisational responsibilities.
The reshuffle also gives greater space to newer leaders. Hemang Joshi has been appointed president of the BJP's Yuva Morcha, replacing Tejasvi Surya. Roop Kumari Choudhary will head the Mahila Morcha, while Bansilal Gurjar has been appointed president of the Kisan Morcha. The party has also reworked its media and social media teams.
The new structure reflects an effort to combine organisational experience with fresh energy and broader regional representation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the newly appointed office-bearers, saying the team brings together organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect, and expressed confidence that they would work to strengthen the party and focus on public service.
The new leadership is expected to get down to work quickly. According to party sources, the newly constituted national team is likely to hold its first introductory meeting on the morning of August 22, with Nitin Nabin expected to interact with the office-bearers and outline organisational priorities.
The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening the party's organisational machinery and preparing for assembly elections due next year, while also laying the groundwork for the BJP's longer-term strategy ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP's latest reshuffle therefore marks an important step in Nitin Nabin's leadership, balancing established political figures with younger organisational leaders as the party prepares for its next phase of expansion and electoral mobilisation.
