Amit Shah Rebukes Omar Abdullah for "Misleading" Remarks on J&K Business Rules

Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly condemned National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Friday for his claims regarding changes in Jammu and Kashmir's government business rules. Shah accused Abdullah of spreading false information to mislead the public ahead of the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

In a public statement, Omar Abdullah had alleged that the central government had made changes to the business rules of Jammu and Kashmir, giving more power to the Lieutenant Governor's office while sidelining the elected government. He expressed concerns about the democratic process being undermined in the region.

Responding to these allegations, Amit Shah stated that no such changes had been made and that Abdullah's claims were entirely baseless. Shah urged political leaders to refrain from making statements that could create confusion or unrest among the people. He assured that the government is committed to ensuring the democratic process is followed and that the upcoming elections will be conducted transparently.

Shah further added that Abdullah’s remarks seemed to be aimed at diverting attention from his party’s dwindling support in the region. He reiterated that the central government’s focus remains on the welfare and development of Jammu and Kashmir.

This exchange comes at a critical time as Jammu and Kashmir prepares for its first Assembly elections after the abrogation of Article 370, heightening political tensions in the region.
