BJP Backs Fadnavis Amid Shinde’s Pushback

In a move that underscores the Bharatiya Janata Party’s firm stance on leadership, the party has reiterated its unwavering support for Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This comes amidst significant resistance from Eknath Shinde, who has reportedly lobbied for his own candidature.  

Sources close to the party reveal that the BJP sees Fadnavis as a tried-and-tested leader capable of navigating Maharashtra through its pressing challenges. His experience and popularity among party cadres make him the obvious choice, BJP insiders argue.  

However, Shinde's faction has expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, suggesting that local dynamics and his grassroots appeal should be considered. The discontent has raised concerns about potential friction within the alliance, especially with upcoming elections around the corner.  

Political analysts view the BJP’s firm backing of Fadnavis as a calculated move to maintain stability and avoid experimentation. “The BJP cannot afford to lose its grip on Maharashtra, especially at a time when opposition forces are consolidating. Fadnavis offers continuity and credibility,” said a senior political observer.
