BJP Expels Leader for Running as Independent in J&K Polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled one of its leaders for contesting the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections as an independent candidate. The move comes as the party tightens its grip on discipline ahead of what is expected to be a crucial election in the region.

According to BJP sources, the leader, whose identity has not been officially disclosed, decided to file his nomination independently after being denied a party ticket. This act of defiance led the party to take immediate action, expelling the leader from the organization.

BJP spokesperson said the party has a zero-tolerance policy towards such indiscipline, especially at a time when unity is essential for its success in the J&K polls. “We cannot afford any distractions or divisions within our ranks. Contesting as an independent goes against the core principles of the BJP,” the spokesperson added.

The expelled leader had been a long-time member of the BJP and had held several key positions in the past. His decision to run independently has reportedly caused ripples within local BJP circles, though party leadership remains confident that it will not affect its overall election strategy.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are seen as a key test for all political parties following the abrogation of Article 370. The BJP is aiming to solidify its influence in the region, and any internal disruptions are being dealt with swiftly to ensure a focused campaign.
