Constitutional Legacy Honored in Srinagar

In a significant event at the Srinagar wing of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, the judiciary commemorated the 75th Constitution Day of India with a spirit of reverence and responsibility. The occasion brought together judges, lawyers, and dignitaries who celebrated the timeless principles enshrined in the Constitution.  

Chief Justice N. Kotiswar Singh led the proceedings, highlighting the Constitution’s enduring relevance in safeguarding democracy and ensuring justice for all citizens. His speech underscored the importance of judicial integrity and the need for continuous evolution to meet the aspirations of a diverse and dynamic society.  

Legal luminaries present at the event stressed how the Constitution has been a beacon of hope, guiding the region through challenging times, particularly post-Article 370 abrogation. They acknowledged the judiciary’s critical role in maintaining the balance of power and upholding citizens' rights amidst evolving political landscapes.  

The event included an insightful panel discussion on the Constitution’s adaptability and its role in fostering unity in diversity. Students and young lawyers were also encouraged to engage actively in understanding constitutional values, emphasizing their duty to uphold the principles of justice, liberty, and equality.  

While the celebrations echoed a sense of pride, they also served as a reminder of the judiciary’s accountability in preserving the spirit of democracy. The event concluded with a pledge to protect the sanctity of the Constitution, ensuring it remains a living document reflecting the aspirations of every Indian.
