Crackdown in Kashmir: Properties Seized Amid Anti-Terror Drive  

In a sweeping crackdown aimed at curbing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have attached properties worth ₹70 million in multiple locations. This development is part of a larger effort to dismantle terror networks operating in the region, with officials emphasizing a zero-tolerance approach toward any form of support to militant activities.  

The seized properties reportedly belong to individuals accused of aiding and abetting terror outfits. This includes homes, commercial establishments, and agricultural land, which authorities claim were either funded by or directly involved in sustaining militant activities. The action comes in the wake of intensified anti-terror operations launched over the past few months.  

While some see this as a necessary step to ensure national security, critics argue that the move could disproportionately affect ordinary citizens. "We support the fight against terrorism, but due process must be followed. Innocents should not be caught in the crossfire," said a Srinagar-based rights activist.  

Locals are divided on the issue. Some welcome the government’s firm stance, while others fear such measures might lead to unrest and alienation among communities.  

The government has defended its actions, asserting that the seizures are backed by substantial evidence. However, questions linger about transparency and the long-term impact on the region’s fragile peace.  

As the crackdown continues, the focus shifts to balancing security needs with safeguarding the rights and livelihoods of the people in the valley.
