Delhi Drenched: Severe Waterlogging Cripples NCR*

Relentless downpour leaves Delhi-NCR submerged, causing traffic chaos and disruption. IMD warns of more heavy showers, urging residents to stay alert and avoid waterlogged areas.

Delhi and its surrounding regions in the National Capital Region (NCR) have been brought to a standstill as relentless rains continue to batter the area, leading to severe waterlogging. Roads and highways were submerged under several feet of water, creating a nightmare for commuters and residents alike. Vehicles were seen stranded in waist-deep water, with traffic snarls stretching for kilometers in key areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning, predicting more showers throughout the day. They have urged residents to exercise caution and avoid traveling in low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.

Gurugram, Noida, and parts of South Delhi were the worst hit, with drainage systems overwhelmed by the volume of water. The incessant rains have also led to delays in public transport, with buses and autos struggling to navigate through the submerged streets.

Many schools and offices remained closed as authorities advised people to stay indoors. Emergency response teams have been deployed in several areas to assist stranded individuals and manage the situation.

The heavy rainfall is part of a broader monsoon pattern that has gripped northern India, but experts warn that infrastructure in Delhi-NCR remains woefully inadequate to handle such deluges. With more rain expected, the situation may worsen, leaving residents bracing for further challenges in the days ahead.
