More than ten pilgrims taking part in the annual Amarnath Yatra were injured on Sunday after three buses in their convoy collided in the Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, officials said.

The accident occurred near the Tachloo crossing when the buses, heading toward the Baltal base camp, rammed into each other while navigating a congested stretch of road.

“More than ten pilgrims were injured in the accident and were promptly shifted to a nearby hospital,” an official told.

A medical officer at Qaimoh Hospital confirmed that nine injured individuals were given first aid at the facility before being referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for further care.

“All of them sustained minor injuries and are in stable condition. They were referred to GMC Anantnag for further treatment and necessary formalities,” the doctor said.

Traffic along the highway was briefly disrupted due to the accident but was later restored.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the crash.
