Election Commission To Announce Polling Dates For Jammu & Kashmir & Haryana Today

The schedule for the assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana is expected to be released today by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Details will be revealed at a press conference held by the election authority on Friday at 3 p.m. at the Plenary Hall in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Assembly polls in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand are due in the next 5 months. The terms of the legislative assemblies of Haryana and Maharashtra end on November 3 and November 26, respectively. Jharkhand assembly’s term ends in January next year. The poll panel also plans to hold assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir before September 30, the deadline set by the Supreme Court.

The Election Commission has visited Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana recently to oversee the poll preparedness but is yet to visit Maharashtra.
