A unique Kisan Mela is scheduled to be held at the Old Fruit Mandi in Shopian on November 21. Organized by the local agricultural department in collaboration with farmer associations, the event is expected to attract farmers from across the region, offering a rare opportunity for education, interaction, and celebration of agriculture.

The mela aims to spotlight modern farming techniques and technologies that can enhance productivity. Experts from various fields, including horticulture, sustainable farming, and crop diversification, will hold workshops and seminars. Stalls showcasing innovative farming tools, organic fertilizers, and high-yield seeds will also be a major highlight.

Shopian, known for its thriving apple industry, has long been the backbone of Kashmir's agricultural economy. This mela comes as a much-needed platform for farmers to address challenges like climate change, market fluctuations, and access to modern tools. In the wake of global agricultural concerns, such events act as a lifeline for struggling farmers, bridging the gap between traditional practices and modern solutions.

Local officials emphasized that the mela isn't just about education; it's also a celebration. Cultural performances, farmer interaction programs, and contests like 'Best Apple Grower' will foster a sense of community and encouragement.

With farming being a crucial sector in Shopian, the Kisan Mela carries significant importance. It reflects a collective push towards empowering farmers, ensuring sustainable agriculture, and strengthening the local economy. All eyes now turn to November 21, as this event is poised to leave a lasting impact.
