Farmers Take Protests Beyond Punjab

Farmers in Punjab have intensified their agitation, taking their tractor march beyond the state's borders today. The ongoing stir at the Shambhu border has become a focal point of resistance, with thousands of farmers gathering to protest against the government’s agricultural reforms.

The farmers, led by various unions, accuse the government of ignoring their concerns about the three controversial farm laws, which they believe threaten their livelihood and favor corporate entities. The tractor march aims to grab national attention, emphasizing that the protests are not just Punjab-centric but a larger cry for justice from India’s agrarian community.

Observers at the Shambhu border report an increasing number of participants, including women and youth, joining the movement. Leaders from the unions have stated their commitment to continue the protests until their demands are met. They argue that the government’s lack of dialogue and inaction have left them with no option but to intensify their efforts.

The tractor march has disrupted traffic and caused significant delays along major highways. However, protesters maintain that their demonstrations remain peaceful and are a necessary measure to highlight their plight.

As the protest spreads to regions beyond Punjab, political analysts believe it is evolving into a national issue. “This isn’t just about laws; it’s about the survival of a community,” said a farmer leader. With no resolution in sight, the protestors vow to keep marching forward, tractors and all, until their voices are heard.
