Fresh Flow: Kejriwal Rolls Out 24/7 Clean Water in DDA Flats

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has introduced a 24-hour clean water supply system in Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flats, marking a significant milestone in the city's civic amenities. This initiative is being lauded as a transformative step towards enhancing residents' quality of life and addressing long-standing grievances over erratic water supply.

The move comes as part of the Delhi government’sl broader agenda to modernize infrastructure and ensure equitable resource distribution. “Access to clean water is a fundamental right, not a privilege,” Kejriwal emphasized during the inauguration ceremony. Residents, who had often struggled with water shortages and reliance on private tankers, have hailed this initiative as a much-needed relief.  l

However, critics have pointed out that this project might strain the existing water resources of the city. Experts suggest that while the effort is commendable, sustainability measures such as water recycling and rainwater harvesting must also be prioritized.

Many see this as a strategic move ahead of the upcoming elections, with Kejriwal positioning himself as a champion of public welfare. The opposition, while acknowledging the importance of the initiative, accused the AAP government of using it as a political gimmick.

For the residents, however, the political implications take a backseat to the immediate impact on their lives. “We’ve waited years for uninterrupted water. This is a dream come true,” said a resident from Rohini.

The rollout of the 24/7 clean water supply is expected to benefit over 5,000 DDA flats in its initial phase, with plans to extend the service to other areas in the coming months.
