India Rejects Canada’s "Baseless" Nijjar Murder Allegations

India has categorically dismissed allegations made by Canada linking it to the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, branding them as "ludicrous and unfounded." The accusations, which have triggered a diplomatic standoff, were met with sharp criticism from Indian officials who labeled them an attempt to divert attention from Canada’s internal challenges.

The controversy centers around Nijjar, a designated terrorist by India, whose death in British Columbia earlier this year has been the focus of Canadian authorities. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged Indian government involvement, prompting an uproar in diplomatic circles.

India, however, vehemently refuted the claims, asserting that no evidence has been provided to substantiate the accusations. In a strongly-worded statement, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs urged Canada to take a more measured approach, emphasizing the importance of verifiable facts in international discourse.

Observers have noted the escalating tensions as a reflection of broader geopolitical undercurrents. Canada has long been criticized for allegedly providing a safe haven for individuals India identifies as separatists or extremists. This latest episode, many argue, threatens to strain relations further between the two nations.

While Canada calls for accountability, India insists on the need for mutual respect and evidence-based discussions to avoid damaging ties. Experts warn that baseless allegations could have far-reaching implications for bilateral relations, trade, and global diplomacy.

As both countries navigate the fallout, the spotlight remains on the need for clarity, dialogue, and the restoration of trust in their diplomatic engagements.
