Indian Panel to Visit US Over Foiled Pannun Plot

An Indian inquiry panel is set to travel to the United States today to investigate an alleged plot involving Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the founder of the banned organization, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). The move follows recent reports suggesting that Pannun played a key role in orchestrating a conspiracy aimed at destabilizing India, which was reportedly foiled due to international cooperation.

According to officials, the panel will hold meetings with U.S. counterparts to gather evidence and share intelligence. This joint effort highlights the rising concerns over Pannun’s activities, which have been a point of contention between the two nations.

Pannun, a known separatist leader, has been accused by Indian authorities of inciting violence and promoting secessionist movements. While SFJ is outlawed in India, it continues to operate overseas, raising concerns over its influence on extremist elements. The panel's visit underscores India’s determination to address cross-border security issues, particularly those that impact the nation’s internal stability.

Despite the recent diplomatic tensions, experts believe that cooperation between India and the U.S. is crucial to tackling the menace of extremism. With rising incidents of hate speech and provocative actions, the focus remains on dismantling networks that support such activities. The upcoming meetings could lead to significant developments, reinforcing India’s call for a united stance against terrorism.

The case has also brought attention to the broader implications of extremism that transcends borders, urging nations to enhance their collaborative efforts. The outcome of the panel's visit is keenly awaited, as it may set a precedent for future security collaborations between India and its allies.
