Awantipora, 14 August - In observance of National
Anti-Ragging Week from 12th to 18th August, the Islamic University of Science
and Technology (IUST) organized a series of competitions aimed at fostering a
ragging-free environment on campus. The Office of the Proctor, in collaboration
with the Dean of Students, spearheaded the initiative, which included poster
making, logo design, street play, essay and painting competitions.
Professor Javed Ahmad Mir, Professor of Practice at
IUST, served as the Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Along with
the Finance Officer, Prof. Mir awarded prizes to the winners of these
competitions. The events provided students with an opportunity to creatively
express their commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming campus
environment. Pertinently the inaugural session of the programme held on August
12 was chaired by Shri Mumtaz Ali Bhatti, Superintendent of Police, Awantipora,
who talked at length about the legal provisions penalizing ragging.
