Jammu Gets Its Railway Division,PM Modi to Inaugurate Virtually on January 6
The inauguration of the Jammu Railway Division will be virtually performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 6 as a new high in the matters of rail infrastructure within the region. It will fulfill demand, long pending, on the part of local stakeholders and will also aim at enhancement of regional connectivity by benefiting passengers and associated railway staff.
It is presently under the Firozepur Division, while Jammu is on its way to becoming an independent division of the Northern Railways because of its rising profile in the strategic planning of the Northern Railways. But this also sealed the promise of government commitment and representation to regional development by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh; he will represent the event in Jammu.
Perhaps, the most striking of them is the expected inauguration of train services that would connect Kashmir Valley further with the rest of India. Indeed, these include the high-speed Vande Bharat Express and two more trains that are to ply on the newly forecasted Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK)-Kashmir section. The winter train operation plan, which is to be rolled out this month, promises to ease travel even under difficult weather conditions.
Moreover, Trial Runs on the Engineering Marvel, Anji Khad Bridge along Katra Reasi section heralded progress on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project. This milestone in the USBRL initiative, in which T-33 has begun ballast-less track construction, is going to change travel to Jammu and Kashmir as well as inside the Union Territory.
Another step towards speedier travel would be the introduction of a sleeper variant of Vande Bharat before January 2025. This would further make the region more accessible and add to its economic vibrance. Thus, this new chapter in the railway saga of Jammu is indicative of India's commitment to inclusive development.
