Karnataka DySP Suspended After Viral Video of Misconduct in Office Toilet

Karnataka govt suspends DySP B. Ramachandrappa, arrests him over a video in which he can be seen doing an inappropriate act with a woman inside the restroom at the office in the Madhugiri police station of Tumakuru district.

A 35-second video has surfaced on social media that shows the woman in a compromising position with Ramachandrappa. The incident is said to have been witnessed when the woman had gone to lodge a complaint at the police station. Ramachandrappa had lured her into the restroom, it is alleged.

On being contacted, the Tumakuru Superintendent of Police apprised the senior police authorities of the video after circulation. Karnataka's Director General and Inspector General of Police, Alok Mohan, immediately directed the suspension of the DySP.

The woman, from Pavagada town, had complained that Ramachandrappa had threatened her into the act. She had come to the station initially to seek help in a land dispute.

Karnataka Police Department reiterated its commitment to justice while hoping that incidents like this would not recur. This incident has brought to the fore stricter accountability in the police forces in order to ensure safety for women.
