Kashmir to Witness More Cold and Foggy Weather Until December 14, Says MeT

The Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecast an extension of cold and foggy weather in Kashmir, lasting until December 14. According to the latest reports, the region will continue to experience below-average temperatures, with no immediate signs of relief. Dense fog is expected to persist, particularly during the morning and evening hours, reducing visibility and affecting transportation across the valley.  

The prevailing cold wave conditions are attributed to clear skies at night, allowing temperatures to plummet, combined with moisture retention leading to dense fog. Srinagar, the summer capital, has been recording sub-zero temperatures, while the higher reaches of the valley are witnessing even harsher conditions.  

Officials from the MeT department have cautioned residents to brace for extended cold weather and have advised people to take necessary precautions, including wearing warm clothing and ensuring proper heating arrangements. Those traveling within and outside the valley are urged to stay updated on weather advisories, as reduced visibility due to fog could disrupt road, rail, and air services.  

Meanwhile, in the higher altitudes of Kashmir, residents and travelers have reported severe frost accumulation. Agricultural activities, particularly in orchards, are also likely to be impacted due to prolonged frost exposure.  

The current weather pattern has also led to an increase in the demand for heating appliances and winter essentials. Local authorities have been urged to ensure adequate power and fuel supplies to help residents cope with the severe cold.
