Kiren Rijiju Slams Fugitive Zakir Naik Over Waqf Bill Video

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has lashed out at fugitive preacher Zakir Naik for a video circulating on social media in which Naik criticized the government’s Waqf Bill. In a strong rebuke, Rijiju accused Naik of "spewing venom" and spreading misinformation designed to incite religious tensions.

Naik, who is wanted in India on charges of money laundering and hate speech, released the controversial video while in hiding abroad. In the video, Naik claims that the government’s proposed Waqf Bill is aimed at eroding Muslim rights and is an attempt to seize control of Islamic properties.

Rijiju, responding to these allegations, stated that Naik’s claims are baseless and aimed at misleading the public. "This is another attempt by a fugitive to create chaos and unrest in the country," Rijiju remarked, stressing that the bill is meant to bring transparency and accountability to Waqf boards.

Naik has been under the radar of Indian authorities since fleeing the country in 2016. His inflammatory speeches have drawn criticism from various corners, and his latest comments on the Waqf Bill have reignited tensions.

The government has assured that the Waqf Bill, currently under discussion, will be in the best interest of the community and will not affect their religious freedoms. Meanwhile, Rijiju has called on citizens to reject such divisive narratives and focus on peace and harmony.
