Mass Event to Be Held at Kumbh Mela

The North Central Railway (NCR) has estimated a record 40 crore pilgrims at the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The mammoth congregation, considered one of the largest in the world, poses a unique challenge to transport and logistics, which prompts the railways to implement extensive measures for crowd management and safety.

The spiritually and culturally rooted Kumbh Mela attracts millions of the faithful to this place to take a holy dip in the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati. Taking the scale this year, officials in the NCR are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that travel for the pilgrims is seamless.

Some of the key preparations include additional special trains, more frequent runs of existing routes, and better facilities at railway stations. NCR has also announced the deployment of over 3,000 personnel to manage the crowd and modern surveillance systems to ensure safety and security.

Experts, however, caution that the meticulous planning might not be enough. The sheer volume of people is going to put pressure on infrastructure, and coordination between railways, local authorities, and healthcare services will be required.
