Omar Abdullah Accuses PDP of Plotting BJP's Return After Iltija Mufti's 'Kingmaker' Comment

In a fresh political storm brewing in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has sharply criticized Iltija Mufti's recent 'kingmaker' comment, accusing the People's Democratic Party (PDP) of secretly plotting the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) return to power. Mufti’s statement has raised eyebrows across the political spectrum, leading to a war of words between the two regional heavyweights.

Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, stirred controversy when she declared the PDP would play a pivotal role as a 'kingmaker' in the upcoming J&K elections. Reacting strongly, Omar Abdullah questioned the hidden motives behind the statement, alleging that the PDP is laying the groundwork for the BJP’s reentry into the political fold of the region.

Abdullah further stated that the PDP's alliance with the BJP in the past has already caused irreparable damage to the region’s democratic fabric, and any attempt to rekindle ties with the party would be a betrayal to the people of J&K.

In response, the PDP rejected the accusations, calling Abdullah's claims baseless and politically motivated. PDP leaders insist that the party remains committed to protecting the interests of the people and is not in any talks with the BJP.

As Jammu and Kashmir prepares for its elections, the verbal duel between the two regional parties adds another layer of intrigue to an already charged political atmosphere.
