Omar Abdullah Slams BJP for No Muslim Minister at Centre, Questions Call for Votes in J&K

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has hit out at the BJP, questioning its commitment to inclusivity. Abdullah criticized the party for failing to appoint a single Muslim minister in the Union Cabinet, even as it campaigns for votes in Jammu and Kashmir, a region with a significant Muslim population.

Speaking at a rally in Srinagar, Abdullah said, “How can the BJP ask for votes in Jammu and Kashmir when they haven’t given a single Muslim leader a ministerial position at the Centre?” He argued that the BJP’s claims of being a party for all communities fall short when their actions reflect otherwise.

The BJP has been gearing up for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, heavily campaigning across the region. Abdullah’s remarks come as a sharp critique amid rising political tensions.

The National Conference leader’s statements have resonated with many in the region, especially in light of the abrogation of Article 370 and its ongoing impact on Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah further urged the people to be cautious of the promises made by the BJP during the election season.

Political observers believe this criticism could shape the narrative as the elections draw near. Despite BJP’s aggressive push, the absence of Muslim representation in its leadership is likely to remain a point of contention in the state.
