PM's Ganesh Puja Visit at Chief Justice’s Home Sparks Fierce Opposition vs BJP Clash

A fierce political battle has erupted after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud’s residence for Ganesh Puja on Wednesday. The opposition parties accused the BJP of blurring the lines between the judiciary and the executive, calling the visit a breach of protocol and a potential threat to the independence of the judiciary.

Leaders from Congress and other opposition parties criticized the Prime Minister’s move, suggesting that it could undermine the public’s faith in the impartiality of the judiciary. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "Such visits raise serious questions about the separation of powers and the sanctity of judicial independence."

On the other hand, the BJP hit back, dismissing the criticism as baseless. Party spokesperson Sambit Patra defended the visit, stating, "Ganesh Puja is a cultural and religious event, and the Prime Minister attending it at the CJI’s home is a personal matter of respect, not politics."

This clash comes at a critical time with important cases, including electoral reforms, pending before the Supreme Court. The timing of the visit has only intensified the ongoing debate on judicial independence in India.

As political temperatures rise, the public remains divided over the implications of the Prime Minister’s personal visit and its broader impact on the relationship between the judiciary and the government.
