Ram Niwas Goel Bids Farewell to Politics

Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel has officially stepped down from active politics, marking the end of a significant chapter in his public life. In a letter addressed to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, Goel expressed his decision to retire, citing personal reasons and his belief in giving younger leaders an opportunity to take the reins.

Goel, who has been a prominent figure in Delhi’s political landscape, served as the Speaker of the Assembly for multiple terms, earning respect for his balanced approach and dedication to public service. His tenure was marked by efforts to maintain the dignity of the Assembly while addressing key challenges faced by the state.

In his letter, Goel reflected on his journey in politics, stating that it had been an honor to serve the people of Delhi under AAP’s banner. He also expressed gratitude to Kejriwal for his trust and support throughout his political career. "It is time for me to step aside and let the new generation lead with fresh ideas and energy," he wrote.

AAP leaders and members have expressed mixed emotions over Goel's departure. While some lauded his decision as a selfless act, others highlighted the void his exit would create within the party.

As the AAP prepares for upcoming challenges, Goel’s departure serves as a reminder of the constant evolution in political leadership. His retirement underscores the need for established leaders to make space for emerging voices while continuing to inspire through their legacies.
